The amount of money Bernie Madoff scammed from his supposedly unsuspecting friends, associates, and family members is a mere pittance compared to the fortunes pocketed by so-called “faith healers.” These people operate with a façade of rectitude and behind the legal protection of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Faith healers’ deceptions succeed because most people have been taught to believe that God lives among us and sometimes chooses to heal us directly or with the aid of man-made medicines, highly trained surgeons, or skilled therapists. We are told He will heal only the most faithful who ask for His help in prayer.

But wait, aren’t children the most faithful? Why do some of them suffer so?

Probably the two most debated and contentious questions throughout man’s history has been: Does God Exist? and Does Evil Exist?

In my opinion, there should be no reasonable doubt left in anyone’s mind that evil does indeed exist in the world, but not as the demonic spiritual force that some people claim. It is uniquely human. Humans are the only species that conduct activities they know are harmful to themselves. Before a male lion attacks and eats his cubs, he doesn’t weigh the benefits of satisfying his hunger against the disadvantages of losing the cubs’ companionship or ticking off his mate. His brutal actions are strictly instinctive, not evil.

Here we go again, another legal skirmish attempting to outlaw all abortions. In November 2008, Colorado voters will be asked to decide if a female’s egg cell becomes a “person” when it is successfully penetrated by a male’s sperm cell and the DNA of each pair up. The potential legal implications of this decision are enormous.

Tired of feeling like a puppet? Sometime when you are alone, ask yourself, and honestly try to answer this question. What is the major reason there is so much resentment, intolerance, and conflict in your community and around the world? After all, most people are born rational so why can’t they all get along. I think it is because so many people rely on someone else to tell them what to think, what to believe, who to like, who to hate, and how to behave. They depend on others for many reasons but sometimes its because they lack the information needed to form their own opinions.
