What Is The Natural World and What Was Here Before It?

The natural world is a physical structure of time and space, containing matter and energy, that is governed by the laws of physics. Physicists know it is physical because Albert Einstein proved its components can be physically distorted by gravity, and the distortions can be measured. Scientists tell us that around 14 billion years ago our natural world came into existence with a Big Bang.

Until this event the dimensions of time and space did not exist so there was no “before” and no “here.” Only a very hot and extremely compressed form of energy existed, and in the same amount that exists in our universe today. The amount stays constant because energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms. The Big Bang brought into existence time and space simultaneously which together formed a four-dimensional structure which rapidly unfolded to accommodate the movement of energy and matter that was forming in astounding quantities. Anything that moves, of course, does so at a certain velocity, so movement requires time and space, as in feet per second or miles per hour.

A big question that may never be answered for sure is whether the Big Bang was an accident of physics, a recurring event, or as some suggest, the beginning of Creation by some supernatural force? Scientists can only study and attempt to understand the natural world so they leave, or should leave, speculations about supernatural possibilities to others.
