A recent article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper, written by Dr. Walter Witschey, reported that Sebastian Haesler at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics located in Berlin, Germany has determined that some human speech disorders are due to a mutation of our FoxP2 genes.  These genes are known to be responsible for producing the correct amount of  the protein necessary for human speech.  He also reported finding that the same protein in finches determines how they sing, and is also controlled by these same FoxP2 genes.

This is another example how master genes, in cooperation with natural selection, choose which genes to use whether they are building a tree, pinworm, bird, fish or a human.  Read Settled Science to understand how.
